Inside this pallid, sallow, and sickly night,
Beyond the changeling of a moon without light,
Before the Nyx had came, I had thought of you,
And with a breath you were passing through.
How did you know what would happen when you closed your eyes?
While you live in the light, I’m a child of darker skies.
What soft sleep songs did you want to pass down?
From child to child to eternally bound.
When you look through the ashes of what used to be,
When you long to watch a sunset, what do you see?
When you sing a lullaby, do you still sing to me?
I’m abandoned in the dark when the light is free...
And the wind is leaving the sea...
I will be...

Beneath the sad and vain want of desire,
When beauty leaves and burns in the fire,
What is a waking heart with dying smiles?
Why do years pass around these little whiles?
Is it another empty feeling that draws you near?
Who had the right to say there’s nothing to fear?
Why must we be lonely when comes the time,
If ones sees a reflection and still they are blind?
It’s sadness that comes with age and choice,
When you just can’t place a familiar voice.
Down through the years I remain eternally,
When surviving the night, sleep is never free,
Even in my dreams, I can’t tell what I see.
For years it’s there to haunt me...
But, I will be...

Your tales of the ocean still ring through my ears,
A wandering sailor when the sea isn’t clear.
Who all had hoped to hold you close?
When the tide rolled out for reasons no one knows?
When the chains around your heart broke free,
You may’ve left, but I will always be.
No safety in the vagueness of my mind,
As the times consume every feeling that kind.
When you look for a treasure and start to believe,
There once was a good-bye that refused to leave.
Even after all this time, my love refuses to perceive,
Every blackened heart is always eager to grieve.
As the things you want are never free...
I will be...
