Morpheus

He said he would visit Morpheus, and then he closed his eyes
Tell him I'm on my way, ascending where darkness lies
For he had lost the courage and I needed a release
Morpheus can be addictive, but he's always good to me.

If i take my chances, I'm predestined to give no more,
Where angles stand around you, but demons bar the door
Take your chances with the treasures only he can give
Which life do you want? How long could you live?
He sat on his throne with the power of a smile
Morpheus vested his cloak when you closed your eyes
Who will know the challenges you face everyday?
One undisturbed repose, the only hide-away
When he laughs at the wisdom, things he doesn't know
In this vague state it helps if you let go
You'll see the laughing people and the love you don't possess,
You'll fake every smile and flinch at every caress
If he grants you the only pardon, when you are in too deep
Morpheus can softly ease you into that heavy, dreamless sleep...

All in Your Mind

When you own so much more than you can pay
You find your life-long soul mate died yesterday
When you search all your life for a beautiful dream
And when you catch a star it leaves the scene
It’s another night where anxiety will rule
There’s a masquerade going and you are the fool
It’s a million more miles before you get there
Only to find your car beyond repair
It’s a black dog at a conference of ghosts
Where there’s none left grinning except the host
You stand in line and wait your turn
You’re left holding a candle that refuses to burn
The kindred spirit you thought was your kind
Was substance to see it was all in your mind...

Lighted Kingdom's Delusion

I turn and turn and turn about, misty-eyed with cool hate
Insensitive and put to flight, entranced in a deadened state
The bereavement of the hour is meeting with the loss of a lifetime
Irretrievable to all and none when you're unbeloved and blind
Entering your spirit, with a heart of marble you turn so pale
Slipping through the fingers as the bride released her veil
Hushed and still, I withdraw, I only stand in the background
Unimportant and unrecognized, I know love can't be found
Bewailing the loneliness, in soundless solitude I live
The music sometimes fades when you have nothing to give

Maybe it's just the knowledge that emotion is unborn
Baseless and uncreated, the nothingness of a vanishing point
Lapsing of a memory as they gently sail the waters of Lethe
The nonexistence of any emotion, a lover's last agonies
Angels rock me to sleep, but the sunrise is shackles and chains
The Graying Rhapsody I'm romancing, the age-loved illusion
See the ivy-covered house in this lighted-kingdom's delusion

Heartless

You would see me as just an apprentice
But, my love for you remains so restless
At times I swore I’d love you always as now
But that dream shattered with a vow
I can’t share my soul with any other
I can’t see past your face to love another
There are times I feel your arms around me
As the tears create an ocean of sorrow to drown me...

A porcelain heart encaged by a shroud of stone
Made me realize you’ll never feel alone
Years have passed so quickly by
I’m still thinking of a that good-bye
I stare and my soul will always linger,
While you had me wrapped around your finger
I had this foolish fantasy, of loving you, loving me,
Until the days end of eternity.

The shadows fall, day changes into night
There to you my dreams take their flight
Over the mountains through the Ivory Tower
I’ll imagine your love in the darkest of hours
I’ve always been in love with you
No matter what’s happened, what we’ve been through
I shall stand back in the wondrous darkness
And wonder how my love’s traitor could be so heartless...

Fear

How can a wound that cuts so deep,
Stop bleeding with a smile?
How can I have forever to keep?
Those dreams only live a little while.
When darkness summons me,
The fear has yet to reveal.
All the terrors won’t set me free,
For fear is all I feel...

Deathly Sweet Dream

It was an embittering vision, an unheard echoing scream,
And everything ended with that deathly sweet dream.
It was so pallid when compared to a hot, lusty night,
But, you were an end to the graying black and white.
I’ve never known someone so startlingly like me,
I’ve never cared for distraction that wouldn’t set me free.
But, there’s a beautiful vision in an unheard scream,
And everything ended with a deathly sweet dream.

Deception Is Your Art

After we have talked and kissed,
Take a look at what you’ve missed
Look how diamonds become your eyes
While I’m a diamond in the skies
When you knock on Heaven’s door
Don’t think I’ll love you anymore
I never thought it would come to this
It went crazy when we kissed
I only longed for your embrace
Stealing silk and stealing lace
Don’t adorn your blackened heart
For deception is your only art...

Darksome Cupid

A broken heart never mends,
It leaves a scar to be opened again.
Hiding in the shadows he prepares for attack,
Innocent followers are stabbed in the back.
It’s cupid’s hidden colors, the only robe he has,
A long, flowing velvet of only purest black.
And so he said unto me, if you want to be free,
Never fall in love...

If you should dream of a lover’s embrace,
To kiss their lips or wear that lace,
Then don’t say I didn’t warn a fool.
It will bargain with fate and turn on you,
And if you wish to rise above,
Then listen to me, never fall in love.

Scarecrow

As a pebble in the pond,
Those waves touched the shore.
Now, they’re coming back to you,
And knocking at your door.
Hide in the night,
Isn’t that your fantasy?
There is no hiding at all,
From what you did to me.
You’ve read too much fiction,
Those pathetic fairy tales.
Life is far different,
And you have tattered sails.
A treasure to distract,
How silly you’ve became.
Think I believe your ploy,
To hide what you’ve done?
There’s a scarecrow hiding,
In those fields of fantasy.
And it’s biding its time,
To make you dream of mercy.
All you are hiding,
Where you’ve hidden your gold.
Who you really are,
And where it is you go.
The one detail you overlooked,
Are the waves that return.
Dramatize it all now,
It will all crash and burn.
Enjoy it while you can,
Because it’s been long coming.
It will be a tragic moment,
And there will be no running.
He’s hiding for the moment,
No, he will not be alone.
A world of force behind him,
A force you face alone.

COWARD

Flee the scene
You should run because I know you
You should plan your escape
They are coming after you

Don’t try to manipulate others
Or take attention from your deeds
You’ve dug your own sweet grave
Now, it’s time to sleep
Just as you falsely accused
And jerked others against me

I am far from being alone
And you are far from free
The truth has a strange vindictiveness of its own
And your time is running out, you’re all alone

Who will come to your side when your deeds are exposed?
How the tide can deceive when you believe you’re at shore
Did you think you could get away
Or somehow that feeble cover would hold?

Wake up to your sweet reward
Because the truth is coming home
