You chase and chase a wayward rainbow, When you reach the end, there’s no pot of gold You stumble into secrets that will never end And you think you’re doing fine in the lions’ den
There are no knights to sip the wine, Life is stone sober all the time No warm embraces to keep you safe Because paradise wasn’t there in the first place.
Paradise lies about it all No one will catch you when you fall When you scream no one hears you at all The castle fell when you read that wall Because paradise lied about it all
You dig deeper for the treasure you wish to find, In the hole, the note reads, "Better luck next time," All alone you face the world, thinking what a smile will do And when you look off the balcony, a brick wall is your view I know it’s never anything Your tears are many, the songbird won’t sing Fly away from hope and you will see Paradise lied to you and me.
You venture away and plead to come back home Vainly hoping all is safe when you aren’t alone Somehow, believing in fairy tales that fade before your eyes The pain comes in, once again, and feeds your lonely cries. They lied to you, before you knew What one final tale could do After they fade and you appear You search for a time that has disappeared.
The castle fell when you read that wall, Paradise lied about it all.
