Highlighting Virginia Creeper.
“The idea for Virginia Creeper has been several years in the making. Readers who visited While I'm Dying will probably see many similarities. That was deliberate.”
“We live near the famous hiking trail, ‘Virginia Creeper Trail.' I always wondered why that title wasn't used more in a fictional venue, as opposed to the standard hiking information. It seemed to be a great name for a mystery or suspense novel. I jumped at the opportunity to utilize it.”
“I am a ‘geek.' I love computers and working with them. I believe the computer revolutionized writing for so many and made it a very accessible pursuit. I honestly doubt I could write as prolifically if I had to stop and load paper after every page or had to continually purchase ink ribbons. I also like the fact that computers save much paper from being wasted.”
“I have always thought of ‘webcams' as a little unsettling. I know many people have them and use them often, but it always seems so invasive and expository to me. It isn't a great leap of imagination to consider what the cameras may be used for in the appropriate circumstances. Since online subscriptions are as popular as they are, and watching movies online is relatively common, why not a service to watch live material, and why not something like Cabin Fever? I am an avid gamer, when I can be, and that brought the video game aspect into the plot.”
“The idea of ‘Cabin Fever' has been an amazing concept for years as far as fiction is considered. The definitions often go back to the infamous Donnher party in the Rockies . Many people, including myself, have experienced this while snowed in or when there is flooding. I thought it was appropriate for the fictitious video game for several reasons. First, the victims are held in a derelict cabin for weeks or even months. They are unable to go outside, to do anything. They suffer complete isolation from the world outside. The Creeper , that is the main player of the game, is also suffering from insanity.”
“Everything came together in 2006 and I wrote Virginia Creeper. I hoped the publisher who produced Timeslips would accept Creeper and they did. It is always an extended process to get it from manuscript to published book, so I am glad that part is over.”
“I am excited for it to be released and am looking forward to publishing more.”
