Lost and shattered,
Hopeless, running away,
Leaving on a journey, never been able to stay.
Bound and chained to a heart of stone,
Sometimes you get used to being alone,
It doesn't matter...

No arms to hold you,
No love to say good-bye.
As low as you can sink,
Still too high to cry.
Goodness, how time slips right through the hand.
You can't hold on,
You can't understand,
It doesn't matter...

Somehow drifting,
Through clouds and fogs of gray.
Cold, cold mists,
Never could see to stay.
Never cared to hold on,
To something I couldn't see.
No desire to live within a memory,
Low on love, but high on the mountain,
Some have the golden cup, while I long for the fountain.
No money to burn, no looks to see,
Don't care to say, I love to be free,
Wishing on a star, from some stranger's car,
But you know it doesn't matter...
